San Franciscans for Sports and Recreation (SFFSR) is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting recreational facilities and activities in the San Francisco Bay Area. We focus on raising funds to rehabilitate public parks, tennis courts, and recreation centers, ensuring that all communities have access to safe, well-maintained spaces for sports and leisure.
SFFSR raises funds through donations, grants, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events, and community partnerships. We work closely with local businesses, individuals, and public entities to secure the necessary resources for our projects.
To date, SFFSR has successfully rehabilitated 24 tennis courts, 2 basketball courts, 1 volleyball court and provided funding for remediating asbestos and lead from 13 playgrounds in San Francisco, transforming them into vibrant, accessible spaces that serve the community.
The duration of a tennis court renovation can vary depending on the scope of the project, but typically, a full renovation takes between 4 to 12 weeks, including planning, preparation, and construction phases.
The cost of a tennis court renovation project can range from $20,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on factors such as the court’s condition, size, location, and specific upgrades or amenities required.
A tennis court renovation typically involves resurfacing, repairing cracks, repainting lines, upgrading fencing, installing new nets, improving drainage or landscaping, and even sometimes adding lighting, storage facilities, or seating for spectators.
In addition to tennis courts, SFFSR has undertaken projects to renovate basketball courts, playgrounds, community centers, soccer fields, and general park areas, always aiming to create inclusive and safe spaces. We’ve also worked to supply jerseys and wheelchairs for local sports leagues.
Our mission is to preserve, protect, and promote recreational facilities and activities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, ensuring equitable access to quality spaces for sports and leisure, especially in underserved communities.
